Pilot Program
In June 2020, the Manitoba government launched a $2.5 million Home Nutrition and Learning pilot project in partnership with several community organizations. From mid-June until the end of September, thousands of school-aged children and their families received packages of nutritious foods along with the recipes and learning activities.
To help support a stronger evaluation and ensure children who might be affected by food insecurity, continue to benefit from the pilot project, the province announced the pilot project will be extended. Current program partners will now continue to deliver the pilot project until the end of December, with an additional investment of $1.4 million.
Our partners will continue to work directly with participating families in Winnipeg, Brandon, the community of Cross Lake, Thicket Portage, Pikwitonei, Ilford/War Lake and Wabowden to help make this pilot project a success
